Recording History: Live!

4-H Langoor Club - Teen Chapter

Join this unique oral history program and help write the history of your community, earn volunteer hours, and share this unique accomplishment on your college application!

In 2006 the club established the Grandparents-Kids Connect program so that students could learn first hand about the history of their community by connecting with Indian American seniors. In 2007 the club started the “Recording History: Live!” program for High School students. This intergenerational oral history program was designed to connect High School students with Indian American Seniors and write the history of their community through their unique immigrant stories.

The club has published over 7 books and interviewed 30 Indian Americans from Middlesex County. Since 2019 the club has been focused on interviewing Indian American entrepreneurs to capture their personal stories and the impact of the business community on the economy of Middlesex County.

"Grant funding has been provided by the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders through a grant award from the Middlesex County Cultural and Arts Trust Fund. Program funded in part by a grant to Middlesex County by the New Jersey Historical Commission."
